1. Reasons to become a cardiologist

Non-surgical procedures

Unlike cardiac surgeons, cardiologists typically only perform non-surgical procedures. Their work includes evaluating patients, ordering and interpreting tests and recommending plans to prevent or treat heart disease. Many of the procedures they perform are non-invasive, which are techniques that allow them to treat patients without requiring incision into the body. Because they’re performing minimally invasive procedures, cardiologists may feel less stress or pressure in their jobs than some other medical professionals, such as surgeons.
